Electricians design, plan, install, repair and maintain electrical systems in homes, commercial buildings, industrial complexes and retail buildings. There’s also growing demand for specialized work with controls, Internet of Things (IoT), renewable energy projects, fibre optics and communication and computer networks.

Responsibilities

  • Plan new systems and upgrade older systems, wiring, receptacles & light fixtures
  • Install fiber optic systems, fire alarms, security & data systems
  • Install, troubleshoot and repair motors, generators, pumps, solar arrays & Electric Vehicle Charging systems

Entrance Requirements

High School:
Completed: Grade 12
Recommended: English 12 | Pre-Calculus Math 11 | Physics 11

The Electrical Joint Training Committee (EJTC) and the Western Joint Training Society (WJETS) offer one of the highest quality apprenticeship programs in B.C. Preferred entry into an apprenticeship is with graduation from a recognized Electrical Foundation (ELTT) program.

Apprenticeship Program:

Includes technical training and on-the-job training, and exam. Journeyperson certificate awarded after successful completion.
As an apprentice, you also earn while you learn.
